Despite a lot of rain in the week before our event, the course was in very good condition being just damp under foot and all the bunkers in play. It also allowed the ball once on the green to be reasonably firmly struck with anything less coming up short every time. It is getting close to Anzac Day and as the ode goes “Age shall not weary them” our older members obviously living up to the words, came to the fore blitzing the younger rivals putting a gap of seven points between the placegetters and the rest of the field. Well done to the winner, our past president Brian who had a blistering 46 just edging out his old rival Russell who at any other time would have had a match winning score of 45. Congratulations to both as it has been some time since you have posted scores like that. Welcome to our new member Peter who posted his third card and had a good round as well. It has come to the committees attention that some of our members are not attending as frequently as in the past as they believe that some of the courses we play have lost their appeal. Falling attendance and membership is a concern and to try and address these issues we have decided that over the next couple of years we will delete some of the less popular courses and replace them with some more expensive challenging courses. To this end our secretary has already booked some (like Fox Hills) into next years schedule. Fees will undoubtedly rise but at this stage, unless something unplanned should occur, will be remain as is until the end of year.
