Finally we had the chance to play one of the newest courses in Sydney, The Ridge out Menai way. It is a par 72 links style course with plenty of traps besides the large bunkers for the unwary or wayward shot. The fairways are in very good condition and wide but not wide enough for some errant shots and the greens are huge by the normal standard of some of the courses we usually play. Popular at present by the large numbers being pushed on like a production line. Rating 7/10. A good days golf was marred by being harassed by staff to hurry the game despite being within regulation time (was it because people were waiting for carts?). The greens were pock-marked with divots and obvious no attempt was made to repair (no time have to hurry?). This was disappointing as all would have liked to play the course and appreciate all the challenges, the great fairways, deep bunkers and large greens had to offer rather than having to rush their game. Many were unhappy with the treatment and the days enjoyment of playing the course became non-existent. Final consensus, good course with lots of potential. Will we return – the jury is out but unlikely at this stage.
